Op-Ed: Tennessee sports books must stop banning winning bettors

Many sports books today all over the world are increasingly banning or severely limiting sports bettors. Although the sports books deny it, most industry veterans believe the reason is because those bettors are winning too much.
One thing is for sure, there are ways to prevent getting banned by a sports book for winning too much, but these are steps you must take before it happens to you, not after. If you wait to protect yourself, it might be too late, as usually limitations and bans are irreversible.
Professional sports bettor and strategist JV Miller wrote an Op-Ed for USA Today Network to address this problem.
In the article, Miller describes the practice of banning bettors for excessive winning as "thuggish." Miller argues that when sports books do this, their product no longer can be considered "betting" and therefore falls outside what they are licensed to do. Miller encourages the lottery industry, a known competitor to the sports betting industry, to step in and flex its muscles and force regulators to stop this practice.

Miller writes that responsible sports book owners have no reason to ban winning bettors, and the only reason a sports book would do so is evidence they are involved in activities that are not permitted and not above-board.
Miller cites a survey of sports-bettors, which indicates bannings by sports books are up over 400 percent.

Miller has written other articles on this subject in which he stresses the importance of competition between sports books. Miller believes the offshore books competing with U.S.-based books is a tremendous benefit to sports bettors everywhere.
Miller also applauds the arrival of predictions markets into the sport betting industry, believing this alone has kept prices low for sports bettors.
